(Harlan) A former Harlan Middle School Teacher plead guilty to two adjudication charges: Nonfelonius Misconduct in Office (Count 1) and Purchase/Possession Depiction of Minor in Sex Act 1st Offense (Count 2).
According to court records, Eric Croghan, 32, received a one year suspended prison sentence on count one, and a two-year suspended prison sentence for count 2 and will have to serve four years of probation.
Background:
Croghan was arrested in May 2023 on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Purchase/Possession Depiction of Minor in Sex Act 1st Offense. Nathaniel McLaren, Special Agent in Charge of the Cyber Crime Bureau Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force, told KSOM/KS95 News at the time that the investigation began following a referral initiated in Florida. An undercover officer was communicating with Croghan over Kik Messenger. There was enough probable cause to secure a search warrant for any type of digital media at the residence of the the suspect or in possession of the suspect.
