(Atlantic) In March, the Nishna Valley Family YMCA and the City of Atlantic adopted a Memorandum of Understanding from Dan Haynes, Executive Director of the Nishna Valley Family YMCA, to manage the Sunnyside Pool this season.
Haynes says that even before the MOU, the Y was doing background work and trying to line up the staff needed to run the pool. Haynes says they are looking for a Manager, Assistant Manager, Head Lifeguard, 10-15 Lifeguards, and concession stand workers. The starting pay for lifeguards is $15.00 per hour. The Pool Manager and Assistant Manager Positions receive $25.00 per hour.
Haynes says there are some changes in lifeguard certification. It used to be 300 yards but is less stringent today. The Swim test part of the lifeguard class is Wednesday, April 24, and the classes start May 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Haynes is unsure when the pool will officially open.
Haynes says they are always looking for adults, not only for management positions but also for lifeguarding positions. The Y currently has adults working in the indoor pool at the YMCA. Haynes says they will add some sign-on bonuses thanks to a generous donation from a private donor. That information will be released later this week.
