(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing date on vacating a portion of Chicago Road west of 770th Street.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken said they will be vacating at the end of the bridge west about a quarter of a mile. The bridge just west of 770th Street will not be vacated. That portion of the road would be turned into farm ground. The public hearing will be held April 23rd at 9:15 a.m.
The Supervisors then approved a resolution to vacate a non-traveled portion of Lyman Street.
In other news, the Supervisors approved changing Cass County Condemnation in Eminent Domain Proceedings to be referred to as Cass County Eminent Domain Compensation Commission to clarify the purpose of the commission. Supervisor Wendy Richter explained the reason for changing the name.
The Supervisors tabled action on three funding requests. ARPA funding was requested in the amount not to exceed $14,000 to replace a drone for the Sheriff’s Department and ARPA funding was requested in the amount not to exceed $100,000 to purchase a radio system for Secondary roads. Action on those requests were tabled until May 21st so the Supervisors can take a step back and look at what they have left for ARPA funding and how much they can actually give to these projects. A request to use Local Option Sales Tax to fund the Anita Food Pantry Parking lot concrete in an amount not to exceed $25,000 was tabled until the Food Pantry receives word on a possible grant.
The Supervisors accepted the resignation of Tonia Larsen as Brighton Township Clerk and appointed her as Brighton Township Trustee effective April 16th. Kathleen Pace was appointed as Brighton Township Clerk effective April 17th. Alice Williams was appointed as Victoria Township Trustee effective April 17th. David Williamson was appointed to the Cass County Eminent Domain Compensation Commission effective April 16th.
