(Des Moines) Warm temperatures this weekend and widespread rain are forecast for early next week. Rod Donavon with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says this weekend; temperatures will top out in the 70s in northern Iowa and 80s across the state’s southern portion, which marks the warmest temperatures we have seen this year.
Donavon says this will be a widespread rainfall event from Monday until Tuesday. Rain totals will vary from .50 to 1.50 inches. He says severe weather is possible.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 85 degrees in the southwest portion of the state on Monday, with a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms on Monday night. Tuesday’s high will reach the mid-seventies, with an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms. Wednesday’s high will be 70, and Thursday’s high will be 61 degrees.
