A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. After today’s total solar eclipse, the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on August 23, 2044.
The first two photos were shared with us from Texas in the path of totality. The pictures following that are from the Atlantic area where the partial eclipse was visible.
