(Des Moines, IA) — A 41-year-old man from Des Moines tragically lost his life in a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a Jeep around 2 p.m. on Sunday. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on East University Avenue when it collided with the passenger side of a westbound Jeep. The Jeep was driven by a 61-year-old Des Moines woman making a left turn. No charges have been filed; however, failure to yield and excessive speed are potential contributing factors, according to the Des Moines Police Department.
