(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa’s forward Patrick McCaffery and guard Tony Perkins have announced they are entering the transfer portal.
Patrick spent nearly five seasons at Iowa. The senior has one year of eligibility remaining after starting in 60 of 123 total games. During the 2023-24 season, he was a primary starter, averaging 8.9 points, and even scored a team-high 19 points in Iowa’s loss to Utah in the Men’s National Invitational Tournament.
In a post on Instagram, McCaffery stated, “The last 5 years have been the most important of my life. The relationships I’ve built, memories I made, and things I learned will last forever,” he wrote. “I’m forever grateful for it all.” McCaffery is the son of Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery.
Tony Perkins also made the announcement that he will be leaving Iowa to jump into the transfer portal. He spent four seasons with the Hawkeyes and has an extra year of eligibility. Perkins averaged his career-high in points 14, rebounds with 4.4, and assists with 4.6 per game this season. In his time at Iowa, he earned 1,175 points, 398 rebounds, and 321 assists.
