(Griswold, IA) – Griswold boy’s track and field is expecting to cover every event this season. The Tigers have their goals set high to not only make it to the Drake Relays but also to the State Meet. Head Coach Andy Everett expects this season to be a challenge, but one that the Tigers will be able to conquer.
Griswold has a total of 20 different boys going out for the track season. Some of the key athletes to look out for will be former state qualifier Peyton Cook, Cody Dorscher, and Holden Jensen who are already making their impacts well-known in practice.
The Tigers will have both a high jumper and a long jumper this season while also featuring a few throwers to help push the points on the team score. Multiple athletes want to take on the hurdling events which will make it competitive not only in meets but in practices.
There are multiple goals that this track team is looking to achieve this season. Luckily for the Tigers, they have a list of top-ten records for every event that these boys can look to get their names onto.
With the cold weather conditions today, the Tigers will look to Thursday for the Griswold and Stanton co-ed meet against local teams Riverside, AHSTW, ACGC, and Essex. This will not only give the Tigers their first taste outdoors in a competitive atmosphere but also prepare them for what lies ahead.
Griswold hosts Thursday’s meet at Griswold high school which will begin at 4:30 p.m.
