(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers are hitting the greens with a young and green team this season. Audubon features three golfers this season, Harley Yoshida, Paige Konecne, and Mari Gleason from both Audubon and Exira-EHK. Gleason returns a lot of experience from last season, even medaling in a few meets. Head Coach Drew Christensen is looking forward to seeing what these three do this season.
Last year, Audubon spent a lot of time playing during practices with more upperclassmen on the course. This season has already been a bit different with the underclassmen out on the course just learning the differences in their clubs while learning what style works best for them.
Coach Christensen is running a two-ball concept during practice to help in pressure situations that also helps the golfers feel just as they are in a meet. This helps to explain the difference in their shots and how they can improve on the course, especially in the mental game.
Audubon is looking to hit the course next week on Friday, April 5th for their first official meet of the season. The girls have been able to go out on the course already to prepare for upcoming competitions with the style of golf that works best for them.
Audubon hosts their first meet of the season on Friday, April 5th which starts at 4:00 p.m.
