(Pottawattamie Co) Pottawattamie County Conservation Director Mark Shoemaker is retiring.
Eric Hough, President of the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board, made the announcement at the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.
Hough said Mark’s journey with Pottawattamie County Conservation is woven into the very fabric of the organization’s history as he has been the leader for pretty much half of it.
On behalf of the entire Pottawattamie County Conservation Board, Hough expressed deepest gratitude for Mark’s years of dedicated service, exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to their mission.
The process has begun to find a successor. A job descriptions has been approved and a committee has been formed to narrow down the candidates. The Conservation Board hopes to interview candidates in early May and then select the right candidate sometime in May or early June. Ideally, they would like someone to be hired and started in mid-July or early August to give some overlap.
