(Atlantic) On Wednesday, the Atlantic City Council awarded the bid for the Splash Pad Project to a company in eastern Iowa.
Dave Sturm of Snyder and Associates received three bids for the project. The engineers’ estimate was $611,328.00, and the low bid came from Henley Group LLC, out of Muscatine, for $552,084. Sturm stated Caliber Concrete LLC, from Adair, submitted a bid of $596,595.00, and Dostal’s Construction Company, from Gretna, Nebraska, submitted a bid of $642,110.00.
Sturm and his office researched the Henley Company, a firm that was new to them. Sturm says the company has been in business for about three years. Sturm says a former Kiewitt employee established the group.
Based on conversations with Henley Group Officials, Sturm says they plan on starting construction immediately this summer, with a completion goal later this summer.
