(Audubon) Audubon Schools Superintendent Eric Trager and the Audubon School Board discussed legislative inaction at Monday’s regular meeting. Trager says the district is on hold right now, waiting for the legislature to agree on a State Supplemental Aid package for Iowa Schools. By rule, the Iowa Legislature is tasked to set the SSA thirty days into the session, and that deadline has come and gone.
Trager says that with the new budget process, school district budgets were due to their respective county auditors last Friday, and they were unaware of the state supplemental aid.
Eric Trager says they are also waiting on teacher pay legislation.
School districts are also awaiting a final decision on the AEA Bill, which was passed through the Senate on Monday night to restructure the state’s area education agencies. Trager says the Senate Bill varies significantly from the House version. He hopes they can form a conference committee and have things hashed out.
