(Undated) — Applications will be accepted soon for a contest that could help launch a new Iowa business. The John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition awards 100-thousand-dollars in cash prizes to Iowa startups and ventures.
“The top prize for first place is $40,000, $25,000 for second and then $15,000, and we award honorable mentions to really help somebody kind of continue to move along their business,” stated Judi Eyles of the Pappajohn Center at Iowa State University.
Eyles says the competition is sort of like a friendlier version of TV’s Shark Tank. Applications will be accepted this spring. The awards are announced in August.
There are five Pappajohn Centers in Iowa at the three Regents universities, and at Drake and at NIACC in Mason City.
