(Guthrie Center, IA) – ACGC boys’ track and field has seen last year’s success already carry over to this year’s team. At the IATC Indoor Championships last week, the boys finished in eighth place and featured multiple top-five finishers in the meet including Lance Bunde with a second-place finish in the high jump, the shuttle hurdle team finished in second, and the boys 4×400 relay finished in fifth.
ACGC features a very talented senior class of multisport athletes who will help carry this ACGC team back towards last year’s success. Head Coach Cody Matthewson is looking for Anthony Solorzano, Jarrett McClain, Treyton Schneider, Lance Bunde, Easton Stringham, Andrew Mahaffey, and Payton Jacobe to use their leadership to bring back that success this year.
In terms of training, every team starts off the season differently. The Chargers have been working hard at more long-distance exercises and getting the hill workouts to prepare for the upcoming outdoor season.
The goal this season for the Chargers is to bring themselves to the top at the state meet. With hard work, dedication, and motivation the Chargers have a chance to sneak their way to the top spot this season.
ACGC will continue to practice this week to prepare for some more indoor action later next week.
