(Sioux City) A 37-year-old Sioux City woman is facing several charges for a machete attack over the weekend. Iona Lasley was arraigned in Woodbury County District Court yesterday on charges that include willful injury and going armed with intent. Lasley is accused of attacking a homeless woman on Sunday. The victim suffered injuries to her leg, face, and hands.
According to court documents, Lasley fled on foot with the machete. Sioux City Police gave chase and verbally commanded Lasley to stop running. She dropped the weapon and was eventually arrested. Authorities found a used methamphetamine pipe on Lasley following her arrest.
Lasley is held on a $25,000 bond in the Woodbury County Jail.
