(Audubon) On Tuesday, The Audubon County Board of Supervisors ironed out the moving details with Department Heads. The county offices are moving to temporary locations to make room for constructing the new HVAC system at the Courthouse.
Supervisor Chairman Heath Hansen says they discussed everything from the space leased with the city of Audubon to the moving schedule, purchasing items, and postage machine and printer copier needs and location. Hansen says the official move-out date from the building is April 1.
Hansen says the departments will be split into three different buildings. The Auditor’s Office will be temporarily housed in the Memorial Building, and the Clerk of Court and County Attorneys’ Office will move to the current City Hall location. The Armory will house all other departments needing a home. The tech personnel, janitorial services, and maintenance staff will float from building to building. He says the plan is to return to the Courthouse by December 1.
The Supervisors entered into a General Fund Loan Agreement for the $2.8 million Courthouse HVAC project. This financial method involves borrowing money and paying down the debt out of the General Fund over ten years with a debt service levy. The payment would be around $200,000 per year, similar to budgeting a repair expense from the General Fund.
