(Lincoln, NE) – Nebraska men’s basketball Head Coach Fred Hoiberg has been named the Big Ten Co-Coach of the Year alongside Purdue’s Matt Painter. This is the first time in the Big Ten era that the Huskers have had their coach named coach of the year since Tim Miles in 2014.
Hoiberg tied in voting by both the media and coaches to be named the Co-Coach of the Year with Matt Painter. He has helped to carry Nebraska to 22 regular season wins, the second-most in Nebraska history. The Huskers also have earned their best spot ever in the history of the program since first joining the Big Ten and the first time since the 1992-93 season. Hoiberg’s honor is the second time that he received Coach of the Year honors. His last honor was when he was at Creighton as the Big XII Coach of the Year in 2012.
The Huskers will return to action with their Big Ten Coach of the Year on Friday, March 15th when they take on an opponent to be decided later.
