(Anita, IA) – CAM wrestling featured a few of the region’s top wrestlers including Owen Hoover and Tristan Becker who wrestled in the state tournament. While not finishing on the podium, the two seniors wrestled in some of their toughest matches of the year. Head Coach Derek Knisley was proud to see what his seniors were able to accomplish this season.
CAM featured a few successes and downfalls this season. They were able to push themselves in every match, but with such a young squad, there are still improvements to be made.
The Cougars featured three seniors this season including Owen Hoover, Tristan Becker, and Gunner Namanny. These three were essential pieces in developing the culture at CAM as they’ve set an example to motivate more Cougars to follow in their footsteps.
One of Coach Knisley’s favorite moments this season took place during the district tournament. Tristian Becker was able to get a wrestle back to advance to the state tournament, beating the #1 seeded wrestler in weight class 132.
For the game plan this offseason, Coach Knisley is looking to get a few of his wrestlers involved in some practices throughout the summer or go out for a spring sport to be able to prepare their bodies to work hard next wrestling season.
A few of CAM’s wrestlers look to the spring sports season to participate in both golf and track as we wish all athletes the best of luck this spring season.
