(Atlantic) The Atlantic Splashpad committee agrees with Snyder and Associates, the project engineers, to initiate bidding later in the year.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says the most significant pushback is the aggressive timeline. He says even if contractors are not completely booked, by the time the process is finished, they may not get started until the end of May, giving a contractor less than three months to meet the Labor Day deadline, not to mention possible equipment and weather delays.
Lund says there is no shortage of work, and the significant players are unwilling to bid on the project. He fears the timeline could increase the project’s cost or match the city with a contractor not qualified to do the work.
The goal is to complete the Splash Pad Project by Memorial Day 2025.
