(Ames, IA) – With such a freshmen-heavy squad this season, the Iowa State Cyclones saw two players named to Big XII Honors. Audi Crooks has been named the All-Big XII First-Team All-Selection while Addy Brown was named to an All-Big XII Honorable Mention. Both players were also named to the Big XII All-Freshman Team.
Audi Crooks finished the season as the top Iowa State freshman in program history as she earned the most points at 512 and field goals with 203 ever for a freshman in a Cyclone uniform. Crooks is the first Iowa State freshman ever to be named to a spot as an All-Conference First Team member. She currently leads Big XII freshmen in field goal percentage at 58.2% and averages 18.3 points per game. The Big XII star was named Player of the Week and was a four-time Freshman of the Week honoree.
Addy Brown finished the season for Iowa State with a double-double per game as the second-best scorer in Iowa State history. Brown is just one of three Cyclones since the 2000 season to earn 370 points, 230 rebounds, and 135 assists in a single season. Brown came up just short of the program record for a freshman in assists tallying 138 assists this season, just second overall in Iowa State history. She currently sits fifth in field goal percentage out of all of the NCAA freshmen and sixth overall in the Big XII.
These two marked just the third time in program history that two Cyclones have made the All-Freshman Team. This is just the fifth time in the last six seasons that a Cyclone has been named to a Big Ten Yearly honor.
Iowa State will start its tournament run this Saturday, March 9th as the number four seed.
