(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved allocating ARPA funds for the Atlantic Splash Pad project.
The ARPA funding is in the amount of $10,000. Splashpad Committee Chair Jeremy Butler said they have raised $461,843.49 and they are applying for a CAT Grant for $134,000. He said they also have in kind giving of over $60,000 since AMU has offered to run the water, sewer and electrical and Stamp Construction has offered to do the dirt work. The project is currently out to bid.
The Supervisors set the public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 tax levy for Tuesday, March 26th.
Auditor Kathy Somers said the budget is not complete yet, but she gave an update on what the levies are currently looking like.
Somers said the General Supplemental levy looks like it could stay the same as last year and Rural Services Supplemental will need to increase. Somers explained the reasons for the increase.

Somers said every taxpayer in Cass County will be receiving a notice in the mail with the proposed levy rate in each tax district, so if you own property in different tax districts you will get more than one notice.
Other action items approved this morning:
A public hearing to approve a resolution declaring Emergency Medical Services to be an Essential Service will be held May 21st.
The board approved the Chairman sign the 28E Agreement with Juvenile Detention.
The FY2024-2025 county health insurance plan was approved.
The Supervisors approved a Proclamation declaring March as Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
Ciara Hoegh was appointed to fill the vacant position on the Cass County Local Food Policy Council for the four-year term from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2027.
Mark Smith was appointed to fill the vacant position on the Cass County Conservation Board for the five-year term from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2027.
