(Humboldt Co) A Humboldt Middle School teacher has been arrested for Sexual Abuse.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says in September of 2023, they were made aware of a possible sexual relationship between a Middle School Teacher and a High School Student who was under the age of 16 at the time of the initial report. In October of 2023, the Iowa DCI became involved in the investigation at the request of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
Throughout the investigation, many interviews were conducted and multiple search warrants were granted for electronic devices, social media platforms, and physical addresses. As the investigation unfolded, physical evidence, videos, instant messages and physical contact between the two were discovered. These acts began on or about June of 2022 when the student was 14-years old.
On February 26, 2024, the Humboldt county Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old Samantha Meyer-Davis of Rutland. Meyer-Davis turned herself in to the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center after a warrant was issued for her arrest on the charges of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree and Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee. Meyer-Davis was able to post the $15,000 cash bond and was released with a court date of February 29th. In addition, a no-contact order was issued by the court between Meyer-Davis and the student.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were assisted by the Humboldt County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Humboldt Police Department, and administration of the Humboldt Community School District.
Meyer-Davis should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
