(Red Oak) Firefighters from the Red Oak Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Sunday afternoon. According to Fire Chief John Bruce, the call was received at 2:31 p.m., reporting a fire at 1767 165th Street. Upon arrival, the fire crews found one acre of grass on fire. The automatic aid agencies from the Stanton and Elliott Fire Departments were not needed and were disregarded. The property owner was conducting a property clean-up and had a burn pit in use. It is believed that the embers from the pit started the grass on fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Fireground operations were terminated at around 3:10 p.m.
