(Perry) The Perry Community School District is still discussing a return to full school days six weeks after the school shooting that killed student Ahmir Joliff and High School Principal Dan Marburger.
“We try to balance academics with mental health, family needs, staff needs, students needs, and we are going to work on that and hit a sweet spot,” said Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks.
Parents and district officials met last night to discuss this issue, and they hope to decide on a return to full days by March 4.
“They know kids need to be in the classroom; they need to be here and getting instruction, but they also need to take care of themselves, and they need time,” said Laura Skeel with the Perry Community School District.
The district has ended school days early since returning to class in late January.
