(Shelby Co) The Shelby County Board of Supervisors received the Compensation Board’s recommendation for salary increases.
According to the meeting minutes, the Compensation Board recommended a 1% increase in salary for the Sherriff, a 4% raise – plus $1,500 for the Board of Supervisors Chairperson, and 4% for the other Supervisors. It was also recommended by the Compensation Board that the County Attorney, Treasurer, Recorder and Auditor be increased by 4%. Also, an additional $2,000 to attempt to equalize pay with like population sized counties in Iowa for the Recorder, Treasurer and Auditor. As in the past, the employee longevity scale was approved for elected officials also. The Supervisors approved a motion to accept and implement those exact salaries for fiscal year 2025.
The Supervisors also approved a resolution to establish future Election Official Pay in Shelby County. Precinct Officials will receive $12 per hour, Precinct Chairperson and Co Chairperson – $14 per hour, and Election Nigh Runners – $60 per election. These positions will also be paid milage at the current milage reimbursement rate for all travel incurred to perform the services.
