(Des Moines) Iowa Democratic Senator Tony Bisignano of Des Moines says Republicans in the Upper Chamber of the state have passed a bill that will “neuter the auditor.”
The bill was approved in a party-line vote yesterday to allow private auditing firms to conduct annual audits for state departments instead of the state auditor performing those.
Auditor is the only state office won by a Democrat, with Rob Sand serving in that office. Democrats say the bill is a blatant move to limit Sand’s power and authority.
