(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa’s Owen Freeman has once again been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second straight week after a performance in the games against Maryland and Wisconsin. This is the ninth honor for Freeman this season while marking 9 of 14 freshmen of the week honors.
Just last week alone, Freeman averaged 12.5 points, 10 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, and also three assists. Freeman currently leads the Big Ten with 286 points, 171 rebounds, 48 blocks, and 28 steals overall which rank the top of the conference in freshman statistics. He still trails Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger for the most honors in Big Ten history in one season as Freeman has nine and Sullinger had 12 in the 2010-11 season.
Iowa will jump back out on the hardwood tomorrow, Tuesday, February 20th when they battle Michigan State at 6:00 p.m.
