(West Lafayette, IN) – In Big 10 Action in the Hoosier State, the Huskers come out on top of Purdue 77-65 in a top offensive performance. The Huskers improve to 17-9 on the season and 9-6 in Big Ten action.
Nebraska relied on the high-scoring effort of Alexis Markowski with 20 points and a career-high 21 rebounds for a double-double in an impressive effort. She shot 50% from the field at 9-18 and her 21 rebounds marked the fourth-best rebounding effort in Nebraska history. Two players came up just behind Marksowski in the scoring mark as both Jaz Shelley and Logan Nissley had 18 points on the night. Shelley’s eight boards also helped in the rebounding effort and dished out six assists. Nissley’s 18 points marked a new career-high for her and in her first-ever start as a Husker.
On the opposite end for Purdue, the Boilermakers were led on the night by Mary Ashley Stevenson with 16 points and four rebounds as she went 8-8 at the free-throw line. Abbey Ellis tied in scoring with Stevenson with 16 points and also had four rebounds. Madison Layden was the last double-digit scorer for Purdue with 11 points and five rebounds while she shot 4-10 from the field. Despite not scoring in double-digits Jeanae Terry whipped out 11 assists and also scored six for Purdue.
Nebraska outscored Purdue in the paint 30-22 and in turnovers 11-7. The Huskers also outrebounded Purdue 42-26 and shot 44.6% from the field while Purdue shot 37.3%.
The Huskers will return back to action on Tuesday, February 20th when they battle Northwestern at home at 8:00 p.m.
