(Ames, IA) – In double-overtime, the Iowa State Cyclones upset the #7 Kansas State Wildcats 96-93. The Cyclones continue to lead the series 55-47 over Kansas State and lead 28-18 in games at Hilton.
The Cyclones were led on the night by both Addy Brown and Audi Crooks. Brown knocked down 20 points while dishing out five assists and hauling in seven rebounds. Crooks had 20 points on the night as she was just short of a double-double with nine rebounds and also had three steals. The freshman Crooks now is second in freshmen scoring at Iowa State with 409 total points. Behind those two was Kelsey Joens with 13 points as she went 3-4 from beyond the arc and 100% from the charity stripe. Emily Ryan knocked down just one shot from the field, going 1-14, but went 10-10 from the free-throw line with 12 points. Ryan also dished out 12 assists on the night for her first double-double of the season. Isnelle Natabou finished off double-digit scorers for Iowa State with 10 points on the night.
For #7 Kansas State, the Wildcats were led by both Ayoka Lee and Serena Sundell with 20 points each. Lee also hauled in six rebounds and had a total of seven blocks on the night. Sundell dished out seven assists and shot 7-12 from the field to finish off the night. Brylee Glenn put down 14 points on the night while snagging six rebounds and shooting 4-6 from the hardwood. Gabby Gregory shot 50% from the field, put down 13 points, and grabbed five boards. Gisela Sanchez earned 10 points while also pulling in six rebounds.
Iowa State was able to end the game on 18 straight free throws as they went 14-14 in overtime to beat Kansas State. Wednesday’s win for the Cyclones marked their second top-ten win of the season. This is the Cyclones’ 19th top-ten opponent win and the fifth double-overtime victory in Cyclone history for the second within a year that they earned a win in double overtime with the last coming on February 18, 2023, when they beat Baylor.
The Cyclones will take on another ranked opponent #5 Texas on the road this Saturday, February 17th at 3:00 p.m.
