(Des Moines) In funnel week, Iowa bills live or die at the Iowa State Capitol. This week is the first funnel week deadline of the legislative session. Bills that are not moved forward by Friday will be dropped.
Some bills being considered include increasing penalties for swatting and false reports that bring armed police. Another would allow doctors to refuse treatment for personal or religious reasons.
The Governor’s proposal to raise minimum teacher salaries and change the AEA could still be on the table. A bill that would limit library boards of their authority without a public vote transitioned to the full House Local Government Committee, which will need to advance to survive.
