(Audubon, IA) – Wheeler wrestling has been able to get some practices in over the span of not having any tournaments or duals. Audubon has not wrestled since January 27th, but they have been getting in plenty of practice with other teams to help prepare themselves for Saturday’s invitational.
This Audubon team has continued to see slight improvements this season, as Head Coach Tyler Christensen has seen some key differences from the end of December to the beginning of February. Audubon’s young talent is more confident and well-versed on the mats which helps when the Wheelers head into districts.
Regardless of the outcome on Saturday, Audubon is going to continue wrestling as much as possible. Repetition creates consistency, and consistency creates success.
Three wrestlers stand out for Audubon this year Alex Hansen (29-15), Lane Elmquist (22-10), and Jack Stanerson (17-16). These three upperclassmen show what it means to be an Audubon wrestler and to help this young team develop within the culture brought forward by Wheeler wrestling.
Head Coach Tyler Christensen’s advice to his boys is to continue working hard and not give up on themselves. If you work hard, there’s a chance that the path to State will be clear.
Audubon heads to Glenwood this Saturday for the Class 2A District #4 wrestling matchups. They will face off against local teams Clarinda, Clarke, Glenwood, Harlan, and Red Oak. The matchups will start at 10:00 a.m.
