(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa’s Caitlin Clark has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week as she continues to earn more and more honors from the Big Ten with a total of 26 weekly awards. Just this season alone, the senior has been honored a total of eight times.
During the two games against Northwestern and Maryland last week, Clark helped Iowa earn a 93-85 victory against Maryland for Iowa’s first win in over seven games against Maryland. Clark had 38 points, 12 assists, and down six boards on the night. With that, the superstar now has 16 games with 30+ points and 10+ assists, a feat that hasn’t been achieved in over 25 years by any player in women’s college basketball.
To top off those weekly honors, Clark has scored 108 points in 123 career games, the most in program history while putting down 25+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds in 57 games throughout her career, an NCAA best. The Hawkeye currently sits in second in the all-time scoring list behind Washington’s Kelsey Plum’s title. If she continues her average in scoring, Clark will surpass the record in just a little over two games.
Iowa and the National Player of the Year Candidate will return to action on Thursday, February 8th when they take on Penn State at 8:00 p.m.
