(Sidney) The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office arrested a student for making threatening statements to a student or students at the Sidney Community School District.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer was alerted of threats made by a student towards other students at the Sidney Community School District. The student making the threatening statements indicated they had possession of an explosive device and threatened to harm a student. The student allegedly threatened to harm several other classmates.
School officials immediately contacted the student and simultaneously engaged their lock-out procedure, and the school safety plan was enacted. Law enforcement searched, and no suspicious devices or weapons were found.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office arrested the student on charges of two counts of Threats of Terrorism. Law Enforcement transported the student to the Juvenile Detention Center in Council Bluffs pending further court proceedings.
