(Atlantic) Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue says they received a threat to the Atlantic High School on Wednesday.
Chief Hogue says during the investigation, it was found the threat was not credible, and students and staff were not in any immediate danger of attending school on Thursday. However, due to the seriousness of the threat and the disruption to the school and learning environment, a 14-year-old student was taken into custody and charged with Threats of Terrorism. Authorities transported the student to the Juvenile Detention Center in Council Bluffs.
The Atlantic Police Department worked alongside the Atlantic School District during this investigation and has contacted the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau regarding this incident.
