(Lawrence, KS) – The Iowa State Cyclones have now fallen in back-to-back games after the Jayhawks came out on top 60-58. Iowa State and Kansas battled back and forth all night long, with 24 total lead changes on the night.
Looking at the winners on the night, the Jayhawks were led in the game by S’Mya Nichols with 16 points and four assists while going 7-15 from the field. Behind Nichols were Wyvette Mayberry and Zakiyah Franklin with 13 points apiece. Taiyanna Jackson didn’t knock down double-digits but put down nine points and hauled in four rebounds. Kansas shot 43.4% from the field but went just 4-18 at 22.2% from beyond the arc.
Iowa State was led on the night by freshman Audi Crooks who put down 25 points on the night for her new career high. She continued to keep the rebounding game going as well with eight rebounds on the night. She now has 17 games where she has scored double digits. Addy Brown was right behind her with 10 points and seven rebounds while she also dished out six assists in the game. Jalynn Bristow didn’t score double digits but had a successful night with eight points and five boards. Emily Ryan may not have put any points down on the night but had four steals on the night.
The Cyclones outrebounded the Jayhawks on the night 36-33 as they have outrebounded every opponent this season. Audi Crooks has now made 122 total field goals this season as she sits near the top five for field goals by a freshman in a season. Emily Ryan’s assists tonight marked for 654 total in a career. This is the third-most in Cyclone history.
