(Iowa City, IA) – Iowa’s Caitlin Clark has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Top 10 Watch List after winning the award last season. Clark was chosen by a poll of basketball experts that make the list of the top ten points guards in women’s basketball.
Clark has broken multiple records this season including the most Big Ten Player of the Week honors as she currently has 25 as of Tuesday. She has broken Iowa’s record for all-time scoring,, assists, and three-pointers and is the first Division-I player to put down 3,300+ points, 900+ assists, and 800+ rebounds throughout her collegiate career. The senior is also the first player in college women’s basketball history to be named the AP National Player of the Week two times in one season.
The award goes to the top point guard in NCAA Division I college basketball, recognizing players who exhibit the leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills of Nancy Lieberman. Lieberman was nicknamed “Lady Magic,” for her collegiate play as she set the Old Dominion school record for assists (961) while earning 2,430 points, 1,167 rebounds, and averaging 18.1 points per game. She also had 562 total steals while racking up 961 assists.
Caitlin Clark will look to continue to add more to her statistics this season as the Hawkeyes return to action on Saturday, January 27th against Nebraska.
