(Carroll, IA) – During the morning commute on Monday, January 22nd, two people were killed in a single-vehicle accident that was traveling southbound on Highway 71, just north of Carroll. The Ford F-150, driven by Carroll resident Joshua Shelton passed another vehicle also traveling in the southbound direction. When entering back into the lane, the F-150 lost control as it returned and entered the west ditch, striking a Mid-American electric pole as the vehicle came to rest.
Both Shelton and a female juvenile were killed in the accident. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services.
