(Greenfield, IA) – The Nodaway Valley Wolverines have had quite some time since their last competitive match as they last took on Tri-Center on January 6th. As the Wolverines cannot control the weather, they can control what they are doing when they are back at practice which just makes them more hungry for that competitive edge.
Despite not being able to wrestle competitively for some time, this Nodaway Valley team is full of talent from top to bottom this season. Three wrestlers who have stood out are Ashton Honnold (28-2), Trent Warner (29-1), and Keyin Steeve (22-5) who are just a few of many that have been key pieces for Nodaway Valley this season.
There are a few defining characteristics that make this Nodaway Valley team different than others. The main aspect that defines Nodaway Valley is the community support for not only the wrestling program but all their athletic events. Support is huge to identify a program and make a program successful with packed stands and parents cheering all the way which only makes the athletes want to work harder.
The “granddaddy” of wrestling tournaments is upon us, the John J. Harris Invitational. Nodaway Valley is just one of the many local teams going to compete in the invitational including ACGC, Atlantic, CAM, Griswold, and Riverside, as just a few of the local teams. This brings some of the top competitors to one of the biggest wrestling invitationals in southwest Iowa.
Nodaway Valley will be competing in the John J. Harris Invitational which will start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and continue into Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. start. Western Iowa Today TV will be your home for everything John J. Harris as we will have the video live-stream right on Western Iowa Today TV with Austin West and Zach Collins on the call with updates on 96.5 KSOM and KS95.7.
