(Iowa City, IA) – #2 Iowa let Wisconsin come to Iowa City to crush the Badgers 96-50 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes are 18-1 this season as they currently sit at 7-0 in Big Ten action, leading the conference.
Once again, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark was the game-leader with 32 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. She has now passed Brittney Griner for the fourth top NCAA women’s basketball scorer with a total of 3,306 points. Clark now has scored 25+ points, 5+ assists, and 5+ rebounds in 54 games played this season. The superstar also has 77 consecutive games where she has made a three-pointer which continues to be an NCAA best. With this game tonight, Clark now has 3,300+ points, 900+ assists, and 800+ rebounds in a career as the only Division I basketball player to achieve those statistics.
Looking at the other leaders on the night, Kate Martin was right behind Clark with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Martin has now scored 10+ points in the last 12 games played this season. Behind Clark was Sydney Affolter with 12 points while she also hauled in six boards as she now has seven games this season with double-digits. AJ Ediger came in ready to play as she put down her career-high of seven points in a Big Ten game.
For Wisconsin, the Badgers were led by Serah Williams with 19 points and 14 rebounds to record the only double-double in the game. Williams was the only double-digit scorer as Ronnie Porter came up short with nine points and three rebounds while Sania Copeland put down eight points to finish off the night. The Hawkeyes held Wisconsin to just 31.5% from the field and just 20% from beyond the arc.
In the series, Iowa has won their 29th straight game against Wisconsin as Head Coach Lisa Bluder is now 36-4 against Wisconsin. Bluder has helped to lead Iowa to their best start since the 1995-96 season as they currently sit at 18-1. Tonight, Iowa shot 47.5% from the hardwood while shooting 40.5% from beyond the arc.
