(West Lafayette, IN) – The push by Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes helped boil down the Boilermakers on Wednesday night as the Hawkeyes came up victorious 96-71. Iowa now sits at 16-1 on the season and the Hawkeyes are undefeated in conference play.
Leading on the night was Caitlin Clark as she knocked down another triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. The senior knocked down her fourth triple-double of the season and 15th of her career while she earned her second straight triple-double. Clark now has 52 total games this season with 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists after this game while keeping her three-point streak alive with 75 consecutive games making a shot from downtown. Kate Martin was just short of a double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds as she has scored 10+ points in 10 of the last 12 games. Sydney Affolter earned 14 points and pulled down six boards while Gabbie Marshall knocked in four threes in the game with 12 points. Last but not least, Hannah Stuelke put down 10 points on the night to finish off double-digit scoring.
For Purdue, Abbey Ellis led in scoring with 15 points, six assists, and even five steals. Caitlyn Harper went 4-10 from the field while putting down 13 points and pulled in four rebounds. Finishing off double-digit scoring were Jeanae Terry and Madison Layden with 10 points apiece. The Boilermakers shot just 40.3% from the field while they went 5-20 from the perimeter.
The Hawkeyes are off to their best start since the 1995-96 season when they also started 16-1. Their win on Wednesday ended Purdue’s winning streak. This is the first time for Iowa that they went 5-0 in Big Ten action since the 2003-04 season. Iowa has continued its winning streak as they have a Big Ten-best 13-game winning streak.
