(Iowa City, IA) – While being named the Big Ten Player of the Week to earn her 24th Big Ten honor, breaking former Hawkeye Megan Gustafson’s record, Caitlin Clark adds three other awards to her resume. Clark was named the Naismith Player of the Week, AP Player of the Week, and USBWA Player of the Week for her excellent performances against Michigan State and Rutgers.
Clark’s game against Michigan State made national headlines for her buzzer-beating three-pointer with just 0.1 seconds remaining on the clock to give Iowa the win. In that game, Clark put down 40 points and dished out five assists. Iowa then went on the road to take on Rutgers as she had her third triple-double this season as she had 29 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds. While she earned the triple-double, it also qualifies as another double-double mark for Clark as she had her 50th double-double to move to #10 on the Big Ten’s all-time list.
Just this season alone, Clark has taken 34% of the Hawkeye’s shots, scored 501 of their 1,450 points, and is currently shooting 48.5% from the hardwood. Clark also has been averaging 31.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game this season, ranking among the highest in the three categories combined. The senior also sits in first for three-point shots and buckets this season as the has made over half of the Hawkeyes’ three-pointers.
Iowa is currently leading their opponents in points per game with 90.6 points and in rebounds with 43.6 per game this season. The Hawkeyes currently sit at 15-1 on the season and are undefeated 4-0 in conference play.
Clark and the Hawkeyes return to action on Wednesday, January 10th when they take on Purdue in The Hoosier State. Wednesday’s tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Mackey Arena.
