(Undated) — Two Iowans will be honored on a float for organ donation in the New Year’s Day Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
The float features floragraphs of donors, including Dominic Ogden of Des Moines. Donor recipient, Melissa Nelson of Bettendorf, will ride on the float. The Iowans are among donors and recipients from across the country honored on the float.
“The recipients ride on the float to show the incredible gift that donors have, they are able to leave behind this legacy of life long after they are gone and that’s really what this float represents,” said Heather Butterfield, of the Iowa Donor Network.
Both families will head to California to help decorate the float and watch the parade.
