(San Antonio, TX) — Christmas is in full swing and shoppers are running into a new twist this year. A growing number of businesses are using a credit card machine that asks customers if they want to tip for what, in many cases, is a simple transaction.
Diane Gottsman who runs the Protocol School of Texas says you should not be pressured to tip at a retail location, even if you get great service. That, she says, is part of the job. Now, at restaurants, she says it’s appropriate to tip a server. That’s a big part of their salary.
