(Council Bluffs, IA) — A driver who was pulled over on I-80/29 in Council Bluffs was clocked going 115. But, the Trooper who pulled him over says the driver admitted he topped out at 136 miles an hour. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the driver told the Trooper he was speeding because he was running late for work, then decided to see how fast his car would go.
Motorists flooring the gas pedal seems to be a growing trend. The Iowa State Patrol reported that the number of drivers ticketed for traveling over 100 miles per hour has increased. In 2018, 730 drivers were ticketed for going over 100 mph; in 2019, 659 drivers, 1,497 in 2020, 1,205 in 2021, and 1,112 in 2022.
