(Estero, FL) – Iowa women’s basketball continues the winning streak as they beat Florida Gulf Coast (FGSU) 100-62. That win marked the 500th win for Lisa Bluder at the University of Iowa.
The #5 Hawkeyes saw another dominant performance from superstar Caitlin Clark as she notched 21 points and pulled down six boards. Clark also had six assists in the game, as she has now scored 20 or more points in 92 of 107 games she has played as a Hawkeye. Clark was backed up by the stellar performance from Taylor McCabe earned her career-high as she knocked in 18 points followed up by Gabbie Marshall and Sydney Affolter with 12 points each. Kate Martin also had double-digits with 11 points and pulled down five rebounds. Iowa’s offense was so dominant in the game as they were able to break the school record in threes made in a game with 20. The Hawkeyes have scored 90 points or more in 40 different games since 2020-21, which marks an NCAA best.
On the opposite end, Maca Retamales led the Eagles with 16 points and two rebounds. She was followed by Dolly Cairns with 13 points and three turnovers. The Cyclones forced the Eagles into committing 30 turnovers and the Hawkeyes led by as much as 47 points in the game.
Head coach Lisa Bluder said, “I thought our players were really focused. I was happy with the way we passed the ball and shot, but I am almost more happy with the way we defended and rebounded.”
Iowa jumps back on the floor to take on #16 Kansas State for a rematch on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.
