(Indianola) An Iowa school district is apologizing for using a quote by Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler. The Indianola School District, south of Des Moines, sends parents an email on school days with a “Respect Quote of the Day.” Earlier this week, the quote was, “My honor is my loyalty,” which is attributed to Himmler, a high-ranking Nazi who was one the main architects of the Holocaust. District officials apologized for the quote and said the staff member who posted it did not realize it was from “a highly inappropriate source” and that they’ll start a new process for double-checking quotes going forward.
