CLASS 2A
Van Meter 24, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock 21
The Van Meter Bulldogs are your Class 2A State Champions. After a scoreless first quarter, the teams continued going back and forth with one another until the very end. But as Van Meter kept Central Lyon scoreless in the fourth quarter, Van Meter added on 14 points to take the lead and the State Title. Looking into the stats for Van Meter, Austin Baumhover led the team in passing yards with 137 and went 8-15 with a touchdown. The leading receiver was Cael Trudo with 75 receiving yards while Porter Doggett had the only receiving touchdown and just 14 receiving yards. Ben Gordon had 27 carries for 107 rushing yards while Caleb Moore had 18 yards rushing and a touchdown. To add on to that stat, Austin Baumhover had six carries for 16 yards and another rushing touchdown. Adlai Lounsbury helped in the scoring game in the second quarter, knocking in a 25-yard field goal. In the defensive game, Teddy Sieck had 10.5 tackles with a tackle for loss while Porter Doggett also added on nine tackles in the game. On the opposite side, Reece Vander Zee led the team in passing yards with 116 while going 12-15 in the game for two touchdowns. His leading receiver was Reide Folkens with 53 receiving yards on four receptions while Graham Eben earned 35 receiving yards on four receptions and a touchdown. Matthew Dieren added to the receiving stats with a touchdown and 24 receiving yards. The leading rusher for Central Lyon was Graham Eben with 138 rushing yards and a touchdown. Behind him was quarterback Reece Vander Zee with 97 total rushing yards. Defensively, the Lions were led by Drew Kupferschmid with six tackles while Drew Denekas had an interception and Gabe Schulte earned a sack. Congratulations to Van Meter for earning the Class 2A State Championship Title.
CLASS 3A
Williamsburg 20, Bishop Heelan 0
The Williamsburg Raiders are your Class 3A State Champions. The Raiders scored 13 points early in the first quarter and the defense continued to hold Bishop Heelan scoreless throughout the entirety of the game. Leading for Williamsburg in the passing game was Derek Weisskopf with 150 passing yards as he went 10-18 with an interception and two touchdowns. The leading receiver was Braylon Wetjen with 121 receiving yards on six receptions for two touchdowns. In the rushing game, Nile Sinn rushed for 71 yards on 18 carries while Rayce Heitman rushed for 69 yards and earned a touchdown. Defensively, Rayce Heitman led the team in tackles with eight and had a tackle for loss. Cael Moore had four tackles, two for loss, and also earned a sack. Simeon Armbrecht earned two tackles and had both a tackle for loss and a sack. Braylon Wetjen earned all three interceptions in the game for a total of seven yards returned on the interceptions. Quinn Olson led Bishop Heelan with 49 passing yards as he went 6-13 for three interceptions. His primary target was Sir Brandon Watts with one reception for 27 yards. Leading rusher was Olsen with 78 rushing yards while Kasen Thomas was behind him with 29 rushing yards. Defensively, Ricky Feauto led the team in tackles with nine. Jaron Bleeker was behind him with eight tackles, two for loss while Kannon Bork earned 6.5 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. Kasen Thomas also earned an interception in the game with five total tackles. Congratulations to Williamsburg for earning the Class 3A State Championship Title.
CLASS 5A
Southeast Polk 49, Ankeny 21
The Southeast Polk Rams are your Class 5A State Champions. The Rams scored at least a touchdown or more in every quarter to take the win over Ankeny. Leading in the passing game for Southeast Polk was Connor Moberly as he went 14-19 for 143 yards and two touchdowns. His two primary targets were Sam Zelenovich and Carson Robbins. Zelenovich had seven receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown while Robbins had five receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. In the running game, C.J. Phillip rushed for 148 yards on 29 carries, earning himself five touchdowns in the game. Mason Van Der Brink led in the defensive game with a total of 6.5 tackles. The Rams had three players with a sack including Kaden Kain (1.5), Cooper Martinson (1), and Draven Woods (0.5) in the game. There were three interceptions in the game as Trey Lust had two and Caleb Chebuhar had one. Flipping sides, Ankeny was led in the passing game by Luke Anderson who passed for 302 yards as he went 21-30 with three interceptions and a touchdown. Devon Akers was his primary target with nine receptions for 118 yards. Caden Henkes was right behind him with 77 receiving yards and earned a touchdown on four catches. In the running game, Daniel Larmie led with 53 rushing yards and Caden Henkes had 28 yards running with a touchdown to add. Defensively, Dylan Dougherty led in tackles with 7.5 while Connor Kayser was right behind Dougherty with seven. The only sack was by Manning Allen as he dropped Moberly for a 12-yard loss.
