(Cedar Falls, IA) – UNI not only won over Western Illinois but beat them 50-6. Not only was this game record-breaking, but the two teams met for the final time as conference opponents.
UNI has started conference play sitting at 5-1. This is the first tie that they have been able to continue winning in conference play with five games or more in a row since 2019.
Quarterback Theo Day passed for 201 yards as he had one of the best games in his career this season. Tye Edwards rushed for 96 yards while Amauri Pesek-Hickson earned two rushing touchdowns on short gains. Placekicker Matthew Kick earned his third PAT to break the school record which was previously held by David Johnson in 2014. The record now stands at 394 points and could continue to go upward.
UNI finished the game with a total of 476 yards on 60 plays. They rushed for 225 yards which is the most this season and the most since last season against South Dakota where they rushed for 213 yards. The defense was also very good in the last game with a forced fumble and interception along with Tucker Langenberg and Caleb Frazer with six total tackles.
While they faced one opponent that they will not take on in conference play, the Panthers take on a team that is here to stay f Missouri State with a kickoff at 2:00 p.m.
