(Logan) Logan-Magnolia squares off against Woodbury-Central in a Class A quarterfinal on Friday night. The Panthers are (9-1), and Woodbury Central is (10-0). This is the second time around for these two high-powered programs that finished first and second in Class District 8. Woodbury-Central won the first game 39-14.
Logan-Magnolia fell short to Woodbury Central on September 8; after that, the Panthers have won seven straight games, including playoff wins over South Central-Calhoun, 26-20, and Akron-Westfield, 22-16. Logan-Magnolia Head Coach Matt Straight Straight says it has been a fun year.
Coach Straight says the pressure is on the Wildcats.
The Wildcats are a passing team with 2,226 yards in the air and 1,758 yards on the ground. Coach Straight says ball control will be the best defense against their offense. Drew Kluender for all 2,226 yards and 26 touchdowns. Zach Butler is the primary receiver, with 159 catches for 1,084 yards.
Woodbury Central will have the challenging task of stopping Logan-Magnolia’s rushing attack. The Panthers have rushed for 3 210 yards and thrown for 376. Coach Straight points to his experienced down lineman for paving the way for running backs Evan Roden (1,362), Calvin Collins (903), and William Anderson (845).
The kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. at Woodbury Central.
