(Ames, IA) — The City of Ames is collecting pumpkins that are past their prime.
Ames Resource Recovery Plant Supervisor Bill Schmitt. The plant converts dry garbage into energy for the Ames Power plant. He says pumpkins, gourds, and other bio-degradable fall decor can gum up the works. Last year Ames collected 14-thousand pumpkins. You can drop off rotting pumpkins and gourds on the north side of the plant, on Center Avenue.
